Design

The Made By Google Launch Event brought us the Pixel 7 series that brings us a number of new features and hardware upgrades.

In terms of design, the Pixel 7 Pro flaunts a distinctive design compared to the other smartphones. Although it is doubling down on the design language initiated by the Google Pixel 6 series, it has its differences.

The Google Pixel 7 Pro features the same iconic camera visor on the back, but the camera strip looks distinctive with its metallic glossy finish. However, the metallic camera bar may not be the best upgrade in this model. It is fingerprint-prone and easy to scratch and dent. Additionally, the Pixel 7 Pro has an all-glass design with more subtle curved edges on the display. It also puts an end to the two-tone design language trademark of Pixel phones.

The Google Pixel 7 Pro display is big, bright, and brilliant. It features a 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz AMOLED panel that is perfect for most people. In terms of weight, you won’t find much difference between the Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 6 Pro.

Performance

Google’s latest chip may not be packed with the fastest ARM cores, but you get a significant boost in graphics. Another great thing is that every Pro model gets 12 GB RAM without discrimination of the storage version.

You also get all the latest networking technology, such as 5G for networks using Sub6 5G or the more exclusive mmWave 5G. It also supports Wi-Fi up to the newest Wi-Fi 6e.

Battery Life and Charging

To compensate for the Pixel 6’s deficiencies, the Pixel 7 Pro significantly improves battery life. The Pixel 7 series offers relatively decent battery life compared to last year’s Pixel models. You can run your Google Pixel 7 Pro for a full day on a single charge if you don’t take excessive photos. Plus, the battery drains more on the Pixel 7 Pro if you keep it on peak brightness.

Although the Pixel 7 Pro offers better battery life, it doesn’t have the fastest charging speed. While 23W charging with a USB-PD-compliant charger can get you 50% charging in half an hour, you need around an hour and a half to get it fully charged.

Camera Features

The Pixel 7 Pro camera is the best upgrade we got in 2022’s Pixel phones. The Google Pixel 7 Pro features three rear cameras combined into one continuous zoom range from 0.5x to 30x.

The 50 MP primary sensor captures incredible photos, combining the detail-oriented shots of the 12 MP ultrawide sensor. Plus, the 48 MP telephoto sensor comes with a 5x optical zoom level, bringing depth into images. The 10.8 MP front camera is also an upgrade and captures decent shots in most conditions.

Android Version

Android 13 is here, and you can upgrade multiple Android phones to the latest Android version, including the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. But the Pixel 7 Pro comes preloaded with Android 13.

The latest Android version features visual improvements, enhancing the Material You design language. They also improve dynamic spatial audio, multilingual app support, themed icons, clipboard editor, and more security and privacy options.
