Apple AirPods Pro 2 Developing Serious Issues, Users Claim

Apple Announces Next-Generation iPad Pro with M2 Chip Reading Apple AirPods Pro 2 Developing Serious Issues, Users Claim 6 minutes Next Fix: iPhone 13 Pro Max Touch Screen Not Working
  • Apple revealed a number of new products, including the AirPods Pro 2, at its Far Out Event held in September 2022
  • Not long after their release, users started reporting issues with their new AirPods Pro 2
  • Many users claimed facing audio drifting, syncing, volume levels changing, connection dropping, and pairing problems with the new generation AirPods Pro 2

AirPods Pro 2 have been the talk of the town since their release in September 2022. Apple users have been pleased with the overall performance of these next-gen AirPods Pro. All was well until some users identified a few bugs and took to online platforms to complain about these issues. While audio drifting remains the most commonly reported issue, many other minor problems have also come to light in the past few weeks.

Below, we’ve shared every issue users have faced with their new AirPods Pro 2.

1. Audio Drifting

One of the most commonly reported issues with the AirPods Pro 2 is audio drifting. As the name suggests, the sound within the wireless earbuds starts shifting from one side to the other. It continues to the point that one of the two earbuds becomes completely silent. Pretty annoying, right?

Some users have also experienced audio shifting from one earbud to the other continuously. For instance, the audio from the right earbud starts drifting to the left, and the right one becomes silent for a while. But after a few moments, the audio begins drifting back from the left earbud and shifts to the right one completely, making the left one silent.

While the first thought of most people is that it is due to the Spatial Audio feature, this isn’t the case. Most users facing this issue have reported that their Spatial Audio and dynamic head tracking features are disabled.

2. Syncing Issues

The audio drifting issue in the Apple AirPods Pro 2 is closely linked to the audio syncing problem. Since the audio continues to move back and forth between the two earbuds, it can get out of sync with the video you’re watching. In simple words, the audio becomes unaligned with the mouth of the speaker in the video.

Some users have also experienced syncing issues occurring differently in their pair of AirPods Pro 2. They have reported that of the two earbuds, one remains synced with the video’s sound while the other one goes out of sync. This affects the audio quality and makes the entire listening experience nothing but chaos.

3. Volume Levels Randomly Changing

Another issue AirPods Pro 2 users reported is the randomly increasing and decreasing volume levels. Users have experienced that the volume goes down randomly while listening to a song or watching a video and raises on its own after a while.

Some Reddit users have also reported replacing their initial pair of AirPods Pro 2 to rule out the possibility of a hardware malfunction. However, the issue still persists in the second pair.

Users who have experienced this problem have stressed that their Spatial Audio and head-tracking features are turned off. So, those cannot be the reason behind this issue.

4. Connection Randomly Dropping

While the original AirPods Pro suffered from static or crackling sounds, the AirPods Pro 2 is facing far more severe issues, like connection dropping randomly.

Some users have reported connection problems with their new AirPods Pro 2. These next-gen AirPods Pro randomly disconnect from other devices on which you’re listening to music or watching videos.

Some users have also reported that their iPhone or iPad shows the AirPods as connected, but no audio plays.

5. Pairing Issues with Pixel Phones

AirPods Pro 2 are primarily designed to pair with Apple devices, including the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. However, since these wireless earbuds are Bluetooth headphones, they are considered cross-compatible. It means you should be able to connect them to an Android device, like a Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel phone.

Unfortunately, the AirPods Pro 2 don’t work well with Pixel phones, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and more.

How to Reset Your AirPods to Fix Most Issues

As of right now, Apple hasn’t acknowledged any of the issues affecting AirPods Pro 2. So, if your pair of AirPods Pro 2 is also acting up, you may have to do something yourself or wait till Apple releases a software update that hopefully fixes these issues.

Until Apple comes up with a better solution, you can use the classic turn it off and on again trick to get your AirPods working.

You can get rid of these issues by resetting your AirPods Pro 2 to a like-new state and pairing them with your Apple devices.

Please follow these steps to reset your AirPods Pro 2:

  • Place both the right and left earbuds into the charging case.
  • Press and hold the Setup button on the charging case for 15 seconds.
  • Wait for the LED to flash (it may be inside the lid, depending on your charging case).
  • Open your AirPods Pro case near the device you want to pair with and follow the pairing procedure.

Once you have paired your AirPods Pro 2 to one device, you won’t have to repeat the process for all devices because they automatically pair via iCloud.

Buy Genuine AirPods at Phone Daddy

Apple has recently made it a habit to solve issues arising in newly announced products with a software update. Since Apple AirPods Pro 2 are also recently released, chances are Apple will resolve these issues in the next software update.

Ever since Apple got rid of in-box accessories, you have to get AirPods and a charging adapter separately. So, make sure you either buy directly from Apple or other reliable retailers, like Phone Daddy. You risk getting a fake product if you buy used AirPods from an unreliable seller online. To avoid wasting your money, you should always buy from reliable sources.
